When the first COVID-19 case was reported in Singapore, the surge in demand made essentials like masks and hand sanitiser difficult to purchase. To meet the needs of the community, Temasek Foundation announced the #BYOBclean initiative on 17 March 2020 to provide up to half a litre of alcohol-free hand sanitiser to households. The initiative reached almost 600,000 Singapore households as well as frontline transport and healthcare workers to help them combat the pandemic.
More than 20,000 volunteers from 80 organisations were involved in #BYOBclean, including key partners such as People’s Association, CapitaLand, corporates, unions, universities and community organisations.
