Temasek Foundation is partnering with Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and HDB Town Councils to provide public housing residents with better access to fire extinguishers during emergencies. Under the programme, fire extinguishers will be installed at lift lobbies of every other HDB block.
SCDF will conduct free training to members of the public about fire safety and the use of fire extinguishers. Trained individuals will be encouraged to sign up as Community First Responders (CFRs) under the SCDF myResponder app. Through the mobile application, CFRs will be alerted to nearby minor fire cases and the location of the nearest fire extinguisher point. In the event of a fire emergency, this mobilisation enables prompt response to offer help and support to those affected.
