Is this mask different from what Temasek Foundation distributed previously?
In this round of distribution, Temasek Foundation and its partners are supporting MTI to offer the masks under its Stay Prepared initiative to enable lower income Singapore families to enjoy better protection as we face the Omicron wave. This distribution supplements the AIR+ reusable masks with N95 grade filters, that were distributed last month to all Singapore residents.
The single-use masks have high efficiency in terms of filtration levels and meet the recommended guidelines from Health Sciences Authority (HSA). They can be used as an added layer of protection on top of reusable masks or used alone.
The reusable masks distributed previously are commercially available at pharmacies and supermarkets island-wide and online, should you wish to purchase them.

Product Questions
How long can I use the mask for?
The water-repellent mask can be rinsed once a week
(or when dirty), and retains its protective features
for up to 30 rinses or more than 7 months if worn
daily and rinsed weekly.
After 30 rinses, the mask can continue to be used like an ordinary mask or used with other masks for added protection. Incorrect rinsing methods will reduce the effectiveness and durability of the mask.
Similar to single-use mask, the reusable mask should be properly disposed in a rubbish bag or in a bin. Alternatively, applying the principles of circular use, the mask can be repurposed for other suitable use, such as a cleaning cloth, or a pouch for your spectacles or keys. Let's all be environmentally friendly and avoid contributing to our waste by littering.

I have difficulty breathing after wearing the mask/ after wearing two masks. What should I do?
People with chronic respiratory, cardiac, or other
medical conditions that make breathing difficult
should check with their healthcare provider before
using an N95 mask as the higher filtration in an N95
mask can make it more difficult for the wearer to
breathe.
Medical grade surgical masks and N95 masks are personal protective equipment that are used to protect the wearer from airborne particles and from liquid contaminating the face.
A medical grade surgical masks is a loose-fitting, single-use device that creates a physical barrier between the mouth and nose of the wearer and potential contaminants in the immediate environment.
An N95 mask, on the other hand, are designed to achieve a very close facial fit and very efficient filtration of airborne particles in high-risk environments such as hospital settings. Hence, it is reasonable to find it more difficult to breathe through the N95 mask. However, if breathing difficulties persist or worsen, wearer should stop using the N95 mask and switch to a medical grade surgical masks.

The packaging states that the shelf life of the mask is 1 year. Given that the distribution is in August 2021, does that mean that the mask can be used till August 2022?
Prior to the distribution, the masks have been
stored in optimum condition such as low humidity and
low temperature to maintain maximum shelf life.
However, do note that the shelf life of the mask
starts from the manufacturing date, and not the
distribution date.
The masks are able to last beyond their expiry date, albeit with slight degradation of effectiveness, if kept under dry and air tight conditions, away from direct sun. Masks kept in cardboard boxes will be protected from the sun and will last longer in terms of their effectiveness. However, high humidity environment will shorten the useful lifespan of the mask.
Please note the expiry dates as below:
50 medical grade surgical masks
BYD Cares: see expiry date on box
Dunamis ASTM Level 1, Egis: 3 years from manufacturing date
Dunamis ASTM Level 2, Egis: 3 years from manufacturing date
25 N95 masks

Can I select which size I want? What if the masks do not fit me?
All the single-use masks in this distribution come
in a standard size. Should residents require their
masks to have a tighter fit, the strings of the
masks can be tied into knots and shortened manually.
Are the masks safe for people with respiratory problems (e.g. asthma) to use?
A wearer should not have any difficulty breathing
through the single-use medical grade surgical masks.

Why do the instructions say “wash once a week”? Can I wash the mask more often than “once a week”?
Livinguard’s proprietary antibacterial fabric allows
the mask to be worn for up to a week without
washing.
It is recommended to air the mask daily after use, and spot clean if dirty. The mask can be washed if it is soiled or smelly, even if it is less than 1 week from the last wash.
After 30 weekly washes, the antiviral and antibacterial performance will be gradually reduced with each additional wash. Thus, it may be used like ordinary two-layer cotton masks or used in conjunction with other masks including disposable medical grade masks for added protection.
Do ensure that the mask is washed according to the guidelines provided in the mask pack after every use as incorrect washing methods will reduce the effectiveness and durability of the mask.

Product Questions
What is MaskFit ProShield®? Who manufactured the masks and what are they made of?
The MaskFit ProShield® mask kits are customised by
Singapore-based DECKS Pte. Ltd. to provide four
different sizes and better comfort for this national
distribution. The fabric and filter technology are
similar to the ProShield Plus mask that DECKS also
produces.
Each MaskFit ProShield® mask kit comes with two masks and three mask filters. MaskFit ProShield® masks provide three layers of protection. The outer antibacterial layer repels water droplets. The middle layer is a filter liner. The inner layer absorbs our own saliva.

Where are the MaskFit ProShield® masks manufactured?
MaskFit ProShield® masks are manufactured in
Malaysia under tested hygiene environments, while
the mask filters are made in China.
What are the mask filters made of?
The filters are made from nanofibre non-woven
fabric. The three additional reusable filters
provide added protection from saliva droplets or
dust particles.
They may be used with the MaskFit ProShield® mask, or with other DIY or 3D-shaped masks with filter pockets. The mask may be used without the filter when one is exercising, or in less crowded environments.
They may be used with the MaskFit ProShield® mask, or with other DIY or 3D-shaped masks with filter pockets. The mask may be used without the filter when one is exercising, or in less crowded environments.
Is the mask filter reversible?
Yes, the filter is reversible and works the same
when inserting the filter on both sides.
How long can I use the mask for?
Each mask and filter can be washed up to 50 times.
Thus, the two masks and three filters in each kit
can provide reusable protection for more than three
months on a daily 'wear one, wash one' cycle.
After 50 washes, the reusable masks can continue to be used like ordinary masks even though the antiviral and antibacterial performance will be gradually reduced with each additional wash. For more protection, you may wish to add another layer of surgical mask or filter.
You may also replace the filter using the ones supplied with the MaskFit Proshield® masks, or other materials. Examples of filters include: dried wet wipes, tea towels and other materials like flannel, cotton-mix, linen and cotton or surgical masks.
Do ensure that the mask is washed according to the guidelines provided in the mask kit after every use. Washing and drying may be simple but it needs to be done correctly so the mask remains effective even after 50 washes.
The expiry date of masks distributed in November/December 2020 would be December 2022.

Do ensure that the mask is washed according to the guidelines provided in the mask kit after every use. Washing and drying may be simple but it needs to be done correctly so the mask remains effective even after 50 washes.
The expiry date of masks distributed in November/December 2020 would be December 2022.
What happens if I continue to use the mask after 50 washes/1 month? Does it then have no protection qualities at all? How do I dispose of the mask after use?
Yes, you can continue using them like ordinary masks
even after 50 washes, with lower antimicrobial
performance.
Please ensure that the mask is washed according to the guidelines provided after every use as incorrect washing methods will reduce the effectiveness of the mask.
When you do dispose of your MaskFit ProShield® mask and/or reusable mask filter, please do so thoughtfully. Applying the principles of circular use, you can repurpose it for some other suitable use, and then dispose of it in the rubbish properly. Let’s all be environmentally friendly and avoid contributing to our waste by littering.

Is this mask different from what Temasek Foundation distributed previously?
The MaskFit ProShield® masks are available in S, M,
L, and XL sizes, which improve the fit of the mask.
There is a difference in the material too. MaskSafe
DET30™ masks are made from cotton; MaskFit
ProShield® masks are made of polyester and the
filter is a nanofibre non-woven fabric.
Both masks provide adequate protection against various bacteria and viruses.

Can we wear the MaskFit Proshield® masks without the filter?
The mask may be used without the filter when one is
exercising, or in less crowded environments.
However, we strongly recommend the MaskFit ProShield® mask to be worn together with the mask filter when you are in locations with a lot of people and/or are required to interact with many people.

Can I use my own filter with the mask?
Yes. However, please bear in mind to choose the
right filter size for the perfect fit. We would also
advise to choose filter materials that are easy for
breathing, and do not shed harmful particles or
chemicals. Examples include cotton, linen, chiffon
or even dried wet wipes.
I have a filter in a size different than my mask size, can I still use them together?
It is recommended that you use the filter size that
matches your mask to get a right fit and an optimal
level of protection.
What to do when my MaskFit ProShield® filter does not stay in place?
If the filter is not secure or able to stay in
place, it is likely that the fit of your mask needs
to be tightened around the loops. Please adjust the
strap and extend mask to fully cover nose, mouth and
chin.
Are there sizes to the masks? How do I determine the right fit?
MaskFit ProShield® masks come in S, M, L, and XL.
Free size S mask kits are only available to children aged 8 and younger.

How often do I need to change the filter? How do I wash it?
The filters and reusable masks may be washed up to
50 times. Thus, the two masks and three filters in
each kit can provide reusable protection for more
than three months on a daily 'wear one, wash one'
cycle.
Do ensure that the mask and the filter are washed according to the guidelines provided in the mask kit after every use. We recommend to wash each mask and filter separately.
Do note that incorrect washing methods will reduce the effectiveness of the mask and the filter.

Product Questions
Who manufactured the masks, and what are they made of?
The MaskSafe DET30™ masks for adults and kids are
produced by DETERMINANT, a retail brand of Hong
Kong-based textile manufacturing company Esquel
Group.
The masks have three layers of protection: the outermost layer is water repellent and antimicrobial; the middle layer performs particle filtration, while the innermost layer is made of light woven cotton fabric for comfort.

Are the masks safe? What’s the efficiency level of the mask?
All masks distributed under
Stay Prepared’s StayMasked initiative
have been tested by multiple laboratories to pass
required safety standards. The MaskSafe DET30™ masks
for adults and kids have been tested against various
bacteria and viruses, with 94% effectiveness against
Influenza A virus, an enveloped virus like the
SARS-CoV-2 virus.
How long can I use the mask for?
Each MaskSafe DET30™ mask can be washed up to 30
times. Each mask kit contains two masks and on the
basis of a “wear one, wash one” principle, should
last for 2 months of daily use.
After 30 washes, the reusable masks can continue to be used like ordinary masks even though the antiviral and antibacterial performance will be gradually reduced with each additional wash. For more protection, you may wish to add another layer of surgical mask or filter.
Do ensure that the mask is washed according to the guidelines provided in the mask kit after every use. Washing and drying is very simple but needs to be done correctly so the mask remains effective for a longer period of time.
When you do dispose of your DET30 mask, please do so thoughtfully. Applying the principles of circular use, you can repurpose it as a cleaning cloth or for some other suitable use, and then dispose of it in the rubbish properly. Please do not contribute to our waste by littering.

Are there sizes to the masks? Are there child-sized masks?
The free Kids White masks fit children between 3 and
12 years of age. As children aged 2 to 6 may not
have the coordination to use masks properly, their
parents and caregivers can decide if face shields or
masks provide a better fit.
My child is below 2 years of age. Can he / she wear the mask?
Face masks of all types are not recommended for
babies, children with special needs and for young
children below 2 years of age, for child safety
reasons.
The stickers provided in the kids mask kit are a nice touch. Are they available for pre-order and can we select our preferred designs?
You won’t be able to select your preferred designs,
but children can have some fun swapping stickers
among their friends.

surgical mask if you are unwell and going to see a doctor.
Regardless of the type of mask used, social responsibility should still be practised. Maintain good personal hygiene habits and practise safe distancing when outside your home.
