FAQ

Collection and Pre-order Questions
Who is entitled to these free masks?
All residents of Singapore are eligible to collect one free MaskSafe DET30™ mask kit, which contains 2 reusable masks. This includes Work Pass / Work Permit / Long Term Pass holders such as foreign domestic workers, foreign workers not living in dormitories and international students living in hostels, excluding foreign tourists.

To collect the free MaskSafe mask kit, residents should bring along their government-issued identification with a barcode such as their Pink/Blue NRIC, Work Permit, Student Card, PAssion Card or Driving License. If you are unable to scan your identification at the machine, you may key in your ID number in full, manually.
Is this on a first-come-first-served basis?
Yes, this is on a first-come-first-served basis. Nevertheless, there is no need to rush as there are enough mask kits for all who are eligible. Please collect by 12 July, 11.59pm, and observe safe distancing!
How can I collect my mask kit?
Collection of the MaskSafe DET30™ mask kit is available from now, until 12 July 2020 11.59pm, at any of the 1,200 vending machines located at more than 800 locations, comprising CCs, RCs, and bus interchanges islandwide.

Please bring along your NRICs, Birth Certificates, or any government-issued identification, like the Work Permit, Student Card, PAssion Card, Driving License or Employment Pass, with a barcode for collection. Work Pass / Work Permit / Long Term Pass holders such as foreign domestic workers, foreign workers not living in dormitories and international students living in hostels, excluding foreign tourists, are eligible to collect as well. To find a vending machine nearest to you, click here.

At the vending machine, select your item and scan your ID card, or key in your ID number in full to collect. Please note that every ID is only entitled to one free mask kit, which contains 2 masks.
Can I use my passport / key in my passport number?
The vending machines currently support NRICs, Birth Certificates, or any government-issued identification, like the Work Permit, Student Card, PAssion Card, Driving License or Employment Pass, with a barcode. For those with passes that have both barcode and QR code, please cover up the QR code when scanning so that only the barcode is read.

Passports do not have a barcode and hence are not supported.
Can I collect on behalf of my friends or family?
You are encouraged to collect the mask kits on behalf of other members in your household, to avoid overcrowding. To do so, you can just bring along their NRICs, Birth Certificates, or any government-issued identification, like the Work Permit, Student Card, PAssion Card, Driving License or Employment Pass, with a barcode for collection.

Likewise, if you have neighbours or friends who may find the trip to collect difficult, or are worried about being outside, you can offer to bring back the mask kit for them, provided they are happy for you to take their ID card.

Please treat others’ ID cards in your possession safely, and if you give your card to someone to collect, make sure it is someone you trust and are sure they will be responsible. We are all responsible for the use and security of our identity cards.

If they have pre-ordered additional masks, you can help redeem with the QR code generated through the pre-order and sent to your mobile phone.
I come from a bigger household (e.g. more than 5 members living in the same household). Can I collect more?
All residents of Singapore (including Work Pass / Work Permit / Long Term Pass holders such as foreign domestic workers, foreign workers not living in dormitories and international students living in hostels, excluding foreign tourists) are entitled to one mask kit. You may collect on behalf of others using their IDs.

Interested residents can also pre-order up to five additional mask kits, at $8 per mask kit (against a recommended retail price for these masks of $13). Pre-orders and purchases need to be done at stayprepared.sg/buymasks or DBS PayLah!, and are subject to availability at time of pre-order.

Sorry, but please note mask sales will not be available via the vending machines: only collection of your free mask kit and additional pre-ordered mask kits.
Your records showed I have collected but I did not. How do I appeal?
Each resident can collect only one mask kit using either their NRICs, Birth Certificates, or any government-issued identification, like the Work Permit, Student Card, PAssion Card, Driving License or Employment Pass, with a barcode. For those with passes that have both barcode and QR code, please cover up the QR code when scanning so that only the barcode is read.

If you are facing issues with your collection, please leave us your name, contact details and alphanumeric reference number for validation. We will investigate and update you again on the details.
Will there be another round of distribution after the initiative ends?
MaskSafe DET30™ is the first in a series of products to be distributed to the community by Temasek Foundation and its partners using a network of vending machines.

There are plans for future rounds of distributions under Stay Prepared, so do keep a lookout for updates!
How can I provide feedback about the programme / the masks / collection centre?
You may call our hotline at 1800-738-2000 from 9.00am to 9.00pm daily from now to 12 July 2020 (except on public holidays).
Product Questions
Who manufactured the masks, and what are they made of?
The MaskSafe DET30™ mask is a product of DETERMINANT, a retail brand of Hong Kong-based textile manufacturing company Esquel Group.

The masks have three layers of protection: the outermost layer is water repellent and antimicrobial; the middle layer performs particle filtration, while the innermost layer is made of light woven cotton fabric for comfort.
Are the masks safe? What’s the efficiency level of the mask?
All masks distributed under Stay Prepared’s StayMasked initiative have been tested by multiple laboratories to pass required safety standards. The MaskSafe DET30™ mask has been tested against various bacteria and viruses, with 94% effectiveness against Influenza A virus, an enveloped virus.
How long can I use the mask for?
Each MaskSafe DET30™ mask can be washed up to 30 times. Each mask kit contains two masks and on the basis of a “wear one, wash one” principle, should last for 2 months of daily use.

Do ensure that the mask is washed according to the guidelines provided in the mask kit after every use. Washing and drying is very simple, but needs to be done correctly so the mask remains effective for a longer period of time.
Are there sizes to the masks? Are there child-sized masks?
The masks currently come in one size. You may tie the ear loops of your child’s mask together to ensure the mask fits snugly over their face.

However, do note that face masks of all types are not recommended for babies, children with special needs and for young children below 2 years of age, for child safety reasons.
My child is below 2 years of age. Can he / she wear the mask?
Face masks of all types are not recommended for babies, children with special needs and for young children below 2 years of age, for child safety reasons.

Children ought to stay at home and if they need to travel out, maintain a social distance (1m) from people whom they do not live with. Parents should also ensure children practise hand hygiene, by washing their hands with soap and water frequently or using hand sanitisers.
Payment Questions
What payment modes do you accept for purchase?
