FAQ

How can we help?

Temasek Foundation is offering the StayWell Mouth Gargle under its Stay Prepared initiative to help everyone to stay safe, especially with the emergence of new and more infectious COVID-19 variants. The povidone-iodine (PVP-I) mouth gargle distributed during this exercise kills germs that cause sore throat.

As Singapore adapts to living with COVID-19 as an endemic infection, it is important for everyone to remain cautious and diligent in keeping ourselves and the community safe. Vaccinations and other measures like mask wearing help to reduce the spread of illnesses in our community.

The StayWell mouth gargle will be distributed in two tracks:

  • Register & Self-collect: All households who are interested can register online (from Monday, 15 November to Friday, 10 December 2021) to collect their mouth gargle, using their SP residential water bill account. The first round of self-collection will take place from Monday, 22 November to Sunday, 12 December 2021 across close to 40 designated collection points island-wide. Collection time slots are subject to availability and more will be made available after the Chinese New Year season should demand exceed expectations.
  • SingPost distribution: In addition to the mouth gargle above, SingPost will deliver one small bottle of mouth gargle to each letter box for 1 to 4-room HDB flats. Deliveries will be phased and made between Monday, 25 October and Friday, 19 November 2021. No action is required to receive the mouth gargle.

We are heartened by the overwhelming response to the previous distribution cycles and aim to further extend our support to the community during this time of need.
All interested households can register online to collect their mouth gargle using their SP residential water bill account.

This includes 1-6 room HDB flats, HDB executive, HUDC flats, condominiums, private apartments, penthouses, townhouses, terrace houses, semi-detached, and bungalows.

Registration at stayprepared.sg/staywell-register opens from 15 November and closes 10 December 2021. The first round of self-collection will take place from 22 November to 12 December 2021.
In addition to the mouth gargle collection above, SingPost will deliver 1 small bottle of mouth gargle to the letter boxes for 1 to 4-room HDB flats. No action is required to receive this mouth gargle.

This distribution by SingPost does not include corporate accounts, and commercial properties, including HDB shophouse units, serviced apartments, hostels, dormitories, and faculty accommodation.

You can still register to self-collect 1 more mouth gargle, even if you have received the mouth gargle bottle delivered by SingPost.
Temasek Foundation thanks its partners for supporting this initiative. They include:

  • Singapore Post for packing and delivering the mouth gargle bottles to 1 to 4-room HDB flats, managing the hotline and sponsoring associated costs;
  • SP Group for also managing the hotline;
  • Singapore Pools, Constellar, Frasers Property, and City Developments Limited for providing venues and facilitating the collection of the mouth gargle; as well as
  • Certis for special distributions.
Registration and booking of an appointment slot for self-collection may be done on WhatsApp by sending “hello” to 9099 6600, or by going online at stayprepared.sg/staywell-register. An SP residential water bill account number is required to complete the registration.
If you have registered to collect a mouth gargle on stayprepared.sg/staywell-register between 15 November and 10 December 2021, self-collection will take place from 22 November to 12 December 2021 across close to 40 designated collection points island-wide. The collection points consist of select Singapore Pools branches and select shopping centres, as well as Singapore EXPO. During the registration process, residents will be able to pre-select their collection venue, date, and time slot. Collection time slots are subject to availability and more will be made available after the Chinese New Year season should demand exceed expectations.
Please bring along your SP residential water bill, SP digital bill, or SP account number, to your pre-selected collection point, along with your booking confirmation email / WhatsApp message. (soft copy acceptable)
Registration and booking helps prevent over-crowding at the collection venues. Many residents may already have their own mouth gargle and thus do not need to collect more. Registration allows those who wish to collect an additional mouth gargle to indicate their interest.
Yes, you can change your booking to another venue/date/time. Instructions will be provided on booking as well as other information on self-collection at the point of registration.
Once you arrive at your pre-selected collection venue at your designated collection date and time, please look out for signs which will be placed with directions and instructions to facilitate collection. You will need to bring your SP residential water bills / account numbers, and the booking confirmation email / WhatsApp message.
You may collect on behalf of your family members and friends as long as you have their personal identification with proof of address (i.e. SP residential water bill, SP digital bill, or SP account number). If you have neighbours or friends who may find the trip to collect difficult, or are worried about being outside, you can offer to collect and bring the mouth gargle back for them.

Residents are reminded that they must have authorisation to collect the mouth gargle on behalf of another household. It is a crime to misuse another household’s SP bill. All collection points are equipped with security cameras, and Temasek Foundation will provide the police with any relevant information to help their investigations into any unauthorised collection of mouth gargle.

The offence of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, or fine, or both. Residents are advised to contact the Police at 999 immediately if they witness any unauthorised collection of mouth gargle or spot any suspicious person(s) loitering at the collection points or collecting large numbers of mouth gargle.
You can self-collect your mouth gargle between 22 November and 12 December 2021. Collection time slots are subject to availability and more will be made available after the Chinese New Year season should demand exceed expectations. Collection will not be extended once all the available collection points have closed, so please book your time slot early.
We have partnered with SingPost to deliver one additional small mouth gargle bottle to each household living in 1 to 4-room HDB flats. Mailing options are not available for the self-collect mouth gargle. They can be self-collected from close to 40 collection points island-wide, including select Singapore Pools branches and select shopping centres, as well as Singapore EXPO, which are easily accessible within residential areas.

If you are serving an Isolation Order, please minimise social activities for 7 days after getting discharged, and collect your mouth gargle after that, or have a friend or family member collect on your behalf.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 but feel physically well, please self-isolate for at least 72 hours, and resume normal activities once your ART self-test result is negative after that. You can then collect your mouth gargle, or have a friend or family member collect on your behalf.

If you have been identified as a close contact and received a Health Risk Warning, please complete the 7-day monitoring period, and collect your mouth gargle after that, or have a friend or family member collect on your behalf.

Similarly, if you know of neighbours who may not be able to move around conveniently, and you can help them collect, please consider offering your help.

All residential households in Singapore can register to self-collect one 250ml povidone-iodine (PVP-I) antiviral mouth gargle fitted with a 25ml measuring cup.

Temasek Foundation is also partnering with SingPost to distribute to households living in 1 to 4-room HDB flats an additional 125ml PVP-I mouth gargle bottle and a 30ml measuring cup.

All PVP-I mouth gargle distributed during this exercise kills germs that cause sore throat. Together with vaccinations and other measures like mask wearing, these help to protect our community against the spread of illnesses.
Both mouth gargle products are based on povidone-iodine (PVP-I) as an active ingredient. They contain PVP-I which is effective against a wide range of germs, including those that can cause sore throats.
Do not use the mouth gargle if you are:
  • Allergic to povidone-iodine or iodine (and to alcohol, glycerol, menthol, methyl salicylate or saccharin sodium for Betadine);
  • Having thyroid issues;
  • Using products containing mercury or other antiseptics;
  • Planning to receive or are undergoing or have received radioactive iodine treatments (for Betadine); or
  • Undergoing lithium therapy for depression (for Orasyl).
Please consult a doctor:
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • For children under 6 years of age
  • If you are using the mouth gargle for more than 2 days, or if symptoms persist or worsen.
In the event that you receive a mouth gargle bottle with broken seals, dents on packaging, or product inconsistencies, please call our hotline at 1800 222 2000 or email us via stayprepared.sg/help and inform us of your situation.

Please note that your request will be reviewed, and exchanges will be permitted on a case-by-case basis.

To facilitate the exchange once permitted, please keep and bring along the complete set of your mouth gargle.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to replace the mouth gargle bottle if it is misplaced after collection.
